Why should I trust something done for Free?
My name is Thom Patterson, and I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. TPcal was my senior capstone project. I created it to fill a void I saw on the Internet, a well-defined personal calendaring service. I have no desire to charge for the service for a couple of reasons. I want people to find this project useful, and if I charged anything at all no one would use it. Also, I have a real-world job, so I don't particularly need any "income" that TPcal could provide.
Is my data secure?
TPcal is hosted by 1and1, which guarantees top security. On top of that, TPcal was written in a way that only you have access to your data. Your password is encrypted in the database, and by default your account and your calendars are private.
How reliable is TPcal's uptime?
TPcal is hosted by 1and1, which guarantees 99.99% uptime
Will I get spammed?
Your e-mail address will only ever be used for the following reasons. If you have forgotten your password it is used to recover account access. If you add an event on someone else's public calendar, they are e-mailed from TPcal to confirm the event, and your e-mail address appears as the reply-to address. If someone adds an event to your calendar, you will receive an e-mail from TPcal letting you know. Finally, if for some reason, such as maintenance, that TPcal might change or be unavailable for a while, I will send a private e-mail to all registered users letting them know.
